Suffolk’s search for a local hero

ONE good turn looks set to deserve another, as two of Bury St Edmunds’ most popular venues launch a search for their very own ‘local hero.’

Modern music venue The Apex and The Grade I listed Athenaeum, at Angel Hill, have joined forces to hold their first ever Good Deed of the Year awards and now the hunt is on to find Suffolk’s unsung community heroes.

Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, which manages conferencing and events at both venues, wants to hear about any business employee who goes an extra mile to help those around them.

And the person judged to be the most outstanding corporate community champion will be treated to an all-expenses paid Christmas party night for them and up to 10 of their colleagues.

Julie Hepton, sales manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events at both venues, said:
“Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and whether they climb mountains in aid of charity, sponsor local youth teams or look after elderly neighbours, we want to hear about them.

“This award is our way of saying a very big thank you – on behalf of the county – to one very special person.”

The winner of the Good Deed of the Year Award and their guests will be treated to a three-course festive feast, beginning with arrival drinks and including party novelties and an evening of entertainment.
