The Athenaeum is a wonderful, recently refurbished, Grade I listed building with a Georgian chandeliered ballroom ideal for special occasions such as celebration dinners, wedding ceremonies and receptions.

Bury St Edmunds continued to develop in the 18th century. The building called the Athenaeum was built early in the 18th century as Assembly Rooms where people could play cards and attend balls. It became the Athenaeum in 1854.
The grade 1 listed building was built by Frederick Sands, the same architect who worked on Ickworth House. Click here to read more.
